The Leoncitas are semi-finalists of the Jr. Pan American Cup

This Tuesday, April 14, the Argentine U21 team beat Chile in the last group stage match, qualifying for the semifinals of the Jr. Pan American Cup. The match ended 3-0 for the albiceleste team.

The match started with a goal from Bárbara Raposo (2′) who, well positioned in the area, deflected the ball and gave the team coached by Juan Martín López an advantage. Quickly, with a great individual play by Lourdes PisthonArgentina would get its second goal of the day, this time with Clarisa Iudicello (5′) as an author.

During the first half, Las Leoncitas had several short corners, and after a shot from Chiara Ambrosini that hit the post – in the corner – the Ferro player had revenge, but her goal was not validated because the referee considered that she had not left the area. But that was not all. The national team wanted to increase the difference, but Olivia Cuadros, Chilean goalkeeper, had several interventions that prevented Argentina from scoring another goal.

The Leoncitas began the second half convinced of wanting to score the third and finish the game, and although Cuadros continued to be a figure – since Argentina was constantly in the rival area -, he could not face the very strong drag of Chiara Ambrosini (35′) who scored 3-0, her 11th goal in the tournament.

Argentina qualified for the semifinals with a perfect score. First in the table, having won all their games and with only two goals against, they will play again against Chile, on Friday, April 17 at 5:45 p.m. Argentine time.
