Giuliano Simeone forced Pau Cubarsi’s red card in Atlético vs. Barcelona

Atlético de Madrid took the lead at the Camp Nou against Barcelona for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League 2025-2026 thanks to a great goal from Julián Álvarez, which started from a foul made by Giuliano Simeone. In that infraction he was expelled Pau Cubarsi.

In Colchonero’s worst moment, a great pass from Julián enabled Cholo’s son, who escaped to finish before the departure of Joan García, but before that he received a harsh infraction from the Catalan team’s center back.

The referee only showed him the yellow card, but the VAR called for him to review and had to change his decision and send him to the showers at 44′ of the first half.
