Catcher Brandon Valenzuela debuts with Toronto Blue Jays and becomes the 153rd Mexican-born player in Major League history

The streak of years of those born in Mexico making their debut in the Major Leagues was extended to 12, since since the 2015 season at least one has debuted per season, after no debutants were registered in 2013 and 2014.
