DR Congo beat Jamaica and achieved historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup

DR Congo defeated 1-0 Jamaica for him playoffs heading to the 2026 World Cupand managed the classification for Group K, which makes up Colombia.

The African team became ranked number 47 and will play in its second World Cup. The previous one was in 1974, when it was called Zaire.

The beginning of the match had the African team in control, despite the fact that possession of the ball was distributed. The Reggae Boyz had a hard time going deeper with touches and ended up making backward passes out of helplessness.

As the minutes passed, the game became even in every way. The two risked little and resorted to long balls or direct play so as not to end up in a bad position at the back.

The second half maintained the tone of close play and the search for not making mistakes.

Near the end of the 90 minutes, a new action was canceled that ended in a goal for Congo, after an offside by Moutoussamy, who set up Bakambu for the goal.

Everything ended goalless in regulation time and they went to extra time.

The game broke loose in the first half with a stopped ball. Alex Tuanzebe took advantage of a rebound and took the ball ahead to score 1-0.

The effort of the 120 minutes and the heat in Guadalajara was too much even for referee Facundo Tello, who suffered an apparent muscle injury, which prevented him from continuing in the match.

The final whistle came and Congolese joy exploded. In this way, they achieved their second World Cup qualification and will be part of Group K, along with Colombia, Portugal and Uzbekistan.
