The Canadian will compete in the first round of the GT World Challenge Europe championship at Paul Ricard, with an Aston Martin GT3.

The five-week break in which Formula 1 entered after the Japanese GP, due to the cancellations of the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabiait will be a precious time for the teams to work on the development of their cars and for the FIA to carry out an in-depth analysis of the new technical regulations that put the issue of safety at the top after Oliver Bearman’s accident in Suzuka. Meanwhile, some drivers will take the opportunity to enjoy racing in other cars and categories, such as Max Verstappen in the NLS. Lance Stroll, Aston Martin driver, has now joined the stream, who suffers from the total lack of potential in the F1 chassis designed by Adrian Newey and with the Honda power unit.

The Canadian will compete in the first round of the GT World Challenge Europe, which will be held at the French Paul Ricard circuit, on the weekend of the 11th and 12th of this month. It will be a six-hour night competition (it will start at 6:00 p.m. local time). Stroll has experience in long-term racing: he ran the 24 Hours of Daytona twice. In 2016 he shared a car from Chip Ganassi’s team with Alex Wurz, Brandon Hartley and Andy Priaulx and in 2018 he got into a car from the Jackie Chan DCR Jota team with Fleix Rosenqvist, Daniel Juncadella and Robin Frijns.

Stroll will race at Paul Ricard with an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO within the Pro categorythe most important of the four participating (Gold, Silver and Bronze, the remaining), which will be shared with the Spaniards Mari Boya and Roberto Merhi.

“It’s fantastic for Aston Martin to have the most powerful Vantage line-up the brand has ever fielded in GT World Challenge Europe, including two Pro cars with official Aston Martin drivers on board. GT World Challenge Europe goes from strength to strength season after season and there is no better way or place to showcase the Vantage’s exceptional capabilities on the international motorsport stage,” said Adam Carter, the man in charge of Aston Martin’s endurance division.
