Thiago Tirante (world number 83) swept the ATP 250 in Houston (brick dust) with a 6-0 and 6-3 against local Colton Smith, quarterfinalist in 2025, in 71 minutes of play.

The player from La Plata started the year with eleven victories at the highest level but only seven in ATP main draws (the others are from Qualies, Challenger and Davis Cup) to virtually return to the Top 80 in the world ranking.

Wait Mackenzie McDonald who eliminated Jenson Brooksby 6-4 and 6-2. Against another local player he will look for two wins in a row, something that only happened to him twice in 2026: Challenger in Manama, Bahrain, and the ATP 500 in Rio.

Also in Texas, Paraguayan Daniel Vallejo won with partials of 6-1 and 6-4 to Zachary Svadja for his second professional victory.
