Pampas beat Cobras Brazil 49-19 and remains at the top of the Super Rugby Americas
Pampas thrashed 49-19 Cobras Brazil Rugby in San Pablo on the 5th of Super Rugby Americas 2026 and added his fourth victory in five games. With this result, the Argentine team remains one of the leaders of the tournament along with Doges XV.
The start was ideal for the Buenos Aires team, which struck from the start with tries by Ignacio Díaz and Juan Penoucos, both converted by Bautista Farisé, to quickly take control of the match. However, the Brazilian team reacted from its strength: the forward pack. With two tries from Adrio de Melo, he managed to complicate the development and stay in the game.
In this context, Pampas also suffered setbacks. The momentary departure of Farisé and the yellow card to Ramiro Berardi Calvo took away clarity and order for some passages. Even so, the Argentines managed to hold on and struck again before the break with new conquests from Penoucos and Ignacio Díaz to go up 28-12.
The complement began with territorial control of Pampas, although with some inaccuracies that prevented it from liquidating it sooner. Cobras came close again with another try from De Melo, but the breaking point came from the bench: Agustín Fraga came on and scored a great try that practically sealed the game.
From there, the visit became loose. With more space and confidence, he widened the gap with tries from Estanislao Renthel and Ramiro Manzo, both converted, to seal a resounding victory.
In a match that had moments of tension and difficulties, Pampas showed the character to pull itself together and ended up resolving clearly to position itself as one of the strongest teams in the competition and a strong candidate in the fight for the title.
