Rugby World Cup: the powerful rivals that South America will have to host in 2035
While those selected are preparing for the Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia, world rugby is already receiving requests for editions 2035 and 2039 and the candidacy of South America Other countries join in seeking to host the event.
First of all, according to British media, South Africa expressed interest to World Rugby and sent a formal application, something the region has already done to host a first-ever World Cupwith a joint candidacy between Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Brazil.

Others interested in organizing the Webb Ellis Cup for 2035 are Italy, Spain together with Portugal, Japan (already organized in 2019), England (it was hosted in 1991 and 2015) and another joint candidacy between Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
During 2026 and early 2027, world rugby will visit interested parties to learn more about possible cities, stadiums, logistics and infrastructure, among other issues. Next year those who meet the requirements will be identified and by the end of November there would be a final decision.
