Uruguay had to win the last game from the area against Scotland to qualify for the semifinals of the World Cup and continue in the race to get a place in the 2026 World Cup but they couldn’t. They lost 3 to 1 and the dream fell apart.

Scotland hit harder and first: at 10′ Jennifer Eadie converted from short range and made it 1-0. Luckily for Uruguay, the reaction did not take long to arrive. Teresa Viana appeared at 19′ to score equality after another short corner. At 43′ Katherine Holdgate scored 2-1 for the Eco-Cases and was once again instrumental in the closing when she scored the third for the Europeans at 50′.

In this way, Scotland and India were leading the group and ensured that they were among the four best together with England and Italy, from the Pre-World Cup (fata to define crosses). The first three qualify directly for the World Cup. The best fourth place between the two World Cups (in Santiago de Chile it was Japan, which is 14th) will also qualify.

Uruguay will play anyway vs. the fourth from the other zone: Austria on Friday at 6:30 (Uruguay time).
