Libertadores and Sudamericana 2026: The 6 Colombians who will play in the group stage
After intense weeks, they were defined who will be the 6 Colombian teams who will participate from the group stage in Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores in 2026.
8 FPC teams started the year with international hopes. In South America, as the regulations dictatethe 4 clubs with a quota eliminated each other. Millonarios and América advanced, while Nacional and Bucaramanga said goodbye to their ambitions.
In Copa Libertadores, Colombia began with two teams classified directly to group stage: Junior and Santa Faithboth 2025 champions.
The other classifieds were Medellin and Sports Tolimawhich started from Phase 2 for their respective positions in reclassification.
El Pijao emerged victorious of two complicated series. First, he eliminated Tachira on penalties after the aggregate was tied. He finished in Ibagué, with his people and in a round in which the rival was imprecise.
In Phase 2, Vinotinto y Oro eliminated O’Higgins from Chile. They lost 1-0 in the first leg and turned it around, winning 2-0 at the Murillo Toro and qualifying for the group stage.
For its part, Independiente Medellín also had to suffer to qualify but successfully entered the group stage, leaving two Uruguayan teams on the way.
First, they eliminated Liverpool. In Phase 3, they beat Juventud 3-2 on aggregate and under the rain of Medellín, a more epic setting to celebrate.
With these Colombian victories, both DIM and Tolima entered Pot 4 of the draw, being able to meet Colombian teams.
