Triumph of Las Leonas against Australia in the 2025/26 Pro League

The Lionesses closed their last match of this FIH Pro League 2025/26 window with a great victory. With goals from Zoe Díaz, Eugenia Trinchinetti and Agustina Gorzelany, Argentina beat Australia 3-0 and finished with a perfect score (12 out of 12 points) after these four matches played in Oceania.

The match against the locals went from low to high for Las Leonas, who found the first goal from the hand of Zoe Díaz (17′) after great pressure and recovery in the middle of the field and then finished with an excellent backhand finish for 1-0. During the second and third quarters, until the second goal, those led by Fernando Ferrara dominated the game, but did not have clear goal situations.

But when the curtain closed on the third quarter, Eugenia Trinchinetti (44´)after an excellent personal play by Sofía Cairó in the left sector, received at the far post, eluded goalkeeper Aleisha Power and scored the partial 2-0 so that Las Leonas were calmer in the match. Already in the fourth and last quarter, the specialist and usual scorer, Agustina Gorzelany (48′)brought out his drag and marked the final 3 to 0 for Argentina to leave Hobart City, Tasmania with a big smile.

Although the performance in terms of the game was not as expected, mainly due to the hierarchy of the rivals in front of him, Argentina won the four duels it had to play and got 12 fundamental points facing the June double window. Once this window is over for the Argentine team, The Lionesses are in third position in the standings with 17 points (seven games played – one against the Netherlands – five wins, one draw with bonus point and one defeat).
