Falcao, Arango, Ureña and Morelos: duels that will mark Nacional vs. Millionaires
The CONMEBOL South American faces National Athletic and Millionaires in a vibrant match between the two most winning teams in the history of Colombian football. There is a lot at stake for each side and on the field there will be individual confrontations that can be defining, there are three duels that attract special attention in this series.
The crossover between defender and striker is a clash of pure experience. Tesillo has earned his place in the Verdolaga defense, consolidating himself as the man who provides the most confidence at the back, he has shown signs of knowing how to anticipate the movements of his rivals, with very good aerial play and positioning, but up front he could face Radamel Falcao who as a forward there is not much to add to his renowned career. The legend of the Colombian attack is not going through his best moment, but he is a man that any defender fears due to his hierarchy, location, technique and nose for goal. In fact, this head-to-head match was already won by Falcao the previous year, when Atanasio Girardot scored in the same match and gave the victory to Millonarios after leaving Ospina in the way and a Tesillo who, no matter how hard he tried, could not prevent ‘El Tigre’ from scoring, which he defined with great quality.
The confrontation between Cristian Arango and Rodrigo Ureña will surely raise sparks, Nacional’s new forward knows how to move around the entire attacking front, he likes to associate and act as a center in an area where Ureña has well earned the nickname ‘Pitbull’. The Chilean midfielder does not blush to go all out for the ball even if he has to resort to fouls or strong play, he plays for each ball with maximum speed and with his experience he knows how to play these types of matches.. For Arango it will be a different match, since the attacker with the team he loves will face the club that was his home in two stages of his professional career and which allowed him to make the leap to international football.
Alfredo Morelos in the FPC is perhaps today the forward who impresses the most fear on rival defenses, he becomes uncomfortable for defenders not only because of his power, quality of definition and speed, but also because of his character and drive. He will face off with Andrés Llinás who has spent several years as a defender for Millonarios and who has stood out for his sobriety and concentration. Without being the fastest, he has known how to position himself in the defensive zone, he likes to go to the clash for the ball and will surely be very attentive to every detail and movement of ‘El Búfalo’ to try to anticipate their plays and deactivate Nacional’s attacks.
