Chilean Cristóbal Baeza historic: champion of the Vuelta a San Juan 2026
Tremendous news from Argentina for Chilean sports. The thing is National cyclist Cristóbal Baeza was crowned champion of the Vuelta a San Juan 2026, one of the most traditional races on the South American calendar.
The pedaler from Temuco won the title thanks to his great consistency in the nine stages of competition and beat his compatriot Cristóbal Ramírez by just 22 seconds.
With this, Baeza made history, because he became the first Chilean to win the Vuelta a San Juan since Víctor Caro in 1983, ending a drought of more than four decades for national cycling in trans-Andean lands.
“It was a dream day, everything turned out perfect. “This victory is the result of a lot of work and the support of the entire team.”acknowledged the new monarch.
It should be noted that before dedicating himself fully to cycling, the national was an outstanding triathlete, a sport in which he reached eighth place at the Rosario 2018 Youth Olympic Games. However, in August of last year he decided to leave triathlon to focus entirely on road cycling.
