WTA 1000 in Indian Wells: the draw was drawn with Sabalenka, Swiatek and Rybakina as the main favorites

The 37th edition of Indian Wells WTA 1000 drew its main draw this Monday, when the main favorites like the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (1st), the Polish Iga Swiatek (2nd) and the Kazakh Elena Rybakina (3rd) met their respective rivals in search of taking over the crown.

Runner-up in 2023 and 2025, the 27-year-old born in Minsk, the last finalist in the Australian Open, will try to remove a more than special thorn in the traditional Californian event in pursuit of lifting her ninth trophy in the category, after Wuhan 2018 and 2019, Doha 2020, Madrid 2021, 2023 and 2025, Cincinnati 2024 and Miami 2025, debuting in the second phase against the winner of the duel between the local Alicia Parks (96th) and a player from the qualy.

For her part, the 24-year-old from Warsaw, recently surprised in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 in Doha, will fight to get her third title in the hot Coachella Valley, after winning in 2022 and 2024, both against the Greek Maria Sakkari, also making her debut in the second round against the winner of the fight between the British Francesca Jones (93rd) and a tennis player from the qualifying stage.

Another one who will want to leave her mark in the desert will be the Muscovite, 26 and in one of the best moments of her career, who won her second major cup by winning in Melbourne Park and will be present for the fifth time in the competition, highlighting the crown won in 2023 against the aforementioned Sabalenka in straight sets, to begin her journey against the one who clenches her fist between the hostess Hailey Baptiste (43rd) and the Colombian Emiliana Arango (108th).

It should be noted that the homeowners Coco Gauff (3rd), Jessica Pegula (4th) and Amanda Anisimova (5th), as well as the Russian Mirra Andreeva (8th), defending champion, will surely leave soul and life to take the big blow in Indian Wells, avoiding the initial stage to settle against the Canadian guest Bianca Andreescu (165th) or qualythe Croatian Donna Vekic (103rd) or the Czech Tereza Valentova (47th), the Russian Anna Blinkova (94th) or qualyand the local Peyton Stearns (48th) or the Argentine Solana Sierra (65th), respectively.
