The Dutch was the fastest in the third training of the 18th date of F1 and took a sheet on the only track of the current calendar in which he did not win.

Max Verstappen wants to continue with the envy he brings after his wins in Italy and Azerbaijan in the Singapore GP, 18th date of the World Cup. The Marina Bay track in an impregnable place for the victorious tetracampeon record. In fact, it is the only track of the current calendar in which he never won. But, as it comes with winning aura, you can cut your particular drought. For now, he sent a message to everyone by staying with the best time in the third training.

The Dutch scored 1m30s148 in the best of his laps with soft tires already out of just 17 thousandths to Oscar Piastri, the leader of the World Cup and who commanded the first day of activity. The distances were very small. Mercedes’s duo was third and fourth, with George Russell ahead, 49 thousandths from Max and Kimi Antonelli, fourth, to 89. The Boloñés liked time with Lando Norris, but like the silver arrows he succeeded before, he stayed with the tiebreaker.

Five cars locked in just 89 thousandths is a promise of extremely tight classification. And in Singapore it is key to start from pole. In ten of the 15 editions of the race, the winner stung from the first drawer. And in 13, the winner departed from the first two rows. The only exceptions were Lewis Hamilton in 2017 (he won after fifth) and in Fernando Alonso in 2008, who came out 15º and celebrated in the race that then met the burning pergenened by Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds known as Crashgate.

The batch was interrupted ten minutes with a red flag by the strong blow of Liam Lawson. The New Zealander had already damaged his Racing Bulls in Friday’s second essay and collided again against the wall this Saturday. In both accidents the right suspension damages. The ephemeral companion of Verstappen in Red Bull came from his best performance in Azerbaiyan to be fifth, but everything was tarnished with the double impact of Marina Bay.

Ferrari, meanwhile, fails to take off. Lewis Hamilton was eighth and Charles Leclerc, tenth. Apparently, those of Maranello must work hard because even one of the two cars could stay outside the Q3.
