During the stay of Alex Rodríguez and Marc Lore in Minnesota, before assuming the direction of the Timberwolves this summer, one of the things that both listened frequently was to recover “the trees.”

The new majority owners of the Wolves and the Lynx of the WNBA will do precisely that this season.

The Timberwolves will recover their iconic Black Treesic Edition, an alternative uniform used from 1998 to 2008 (and that Kevin Garnett frequently looked) in 28 games this season: 21 at home and 7 as a visitor. They will debut against the Indiana Pacers on October 26.

“One of the things that has obsessed us is the experience of fans in the stadium and offer them the best of their class,” said Rodríguez, co -president of the Wolves and Lynx, to AM850. We survey the fans and one of the main surveys was that they wanted these shirts that mean a lot for them: the ‘black trees’.

And we will also have more surprises in the stadium and with the uniforms. But listening to Alto and Claro fans is very important for us and we are trying to offer them exactly what they want.

Minnesota first presented the popular uniform with the Christmas tree and a typography of the Timberwolves similar to that of Count Chocula in the 1996-97 season. The black alternative shirt debuted two years later.

With Garnett in the painting and Flip Saunders training from the band, the Wolves arrived at the playoffs eight consecutive seasons, culminating with the first participation of the franchise in the finals of the West Conference in the 2003-04 season, during the era of the tree uniform.

The last time the franchise used the black alternative shirt was during the 2018-19 season.

“We have some uniforms in our closet that fans love,” said Mike Grahl, Timberwolves and Lynx marketing director. “And I would say that this in particular that we bring back is in the foreground of the fans’ cabinets … The fans continue to ask for this shirt. Every time we throw a uniform, there is a common word that all our fans repeat:” trees. “

“There is no other uniform in the NBA designed that way. I think fans feel great energy for their character and singularity, and keep it in their memory.”

While Anthony Edwards tries to take Minnesota to his third consecutive participation in the final of the West Conference, he and the Wolves will wear the most iconic shirt of the 21 of the 28 times that are presented at the Target Center.

Rodríguez states that he and Lore listened to the fans tall and clear.

“When we arrived, everyone wanted to relive the days of glory,” Rodríguez said. “They carried that uniform when (for the first time) they reached the finals of the West Conference. There are many good memories for young people who were children at that time.”

“And that is not just a great uniform for the Timberwolves.” I think it is one of the most great T -shirts of the NBA in the last decades. They are a classic. You see them when (classify) many retro t -shirts. It is one of those that always appears among the top five. So our fans are very proud of them.
