How will Franco Colapinto season continue with Alpine?

The Argentine climbed to A525 on the seventh date of the year and the team was waiting for another performance. It was hard for him to find rhythm and, in addition, he found a little competitive car.

In Formula 1 there is something that is absolutely sure: nothing is absolutely sure. It is not a tongue twisted, it is rather a short description of an inconsible reality and that has thousands of buttons of examples in its 75 years of history. These days, Franco Colapinto’s immediate future in Alpine was wrapped in a tide of rumors that pointed to a short term. Valtteri Bottas, Jack Doohan, Czech Pérez and Paul Aron were the names that were agglutinated around them as possible replacements. The noise grew strong in the case of the Finn because it was Toto Wolff himself, his current boss in Mercedes, who publicly recognized the talks with Flavio Briatore, maximum reference of the Escudería de Estone.

Colapinto reached the second Alpine armchair in the Emilia-Romagna GP, in Icola. In that weekend, Briatore tattooed the three commandments: you will not collide, you must be fast and add points. The Argentine failed in all three. He stuck in the Tuscany circuit in his first classification with the A525, it cost him greatly to find rhythm and is the only grill pilot that did not score in the year. In the middle, the team showed an illogical weakness for a team that behind has the weight of a huge terminal.

Brost did not get red by confessing that the objective of the team is on 2026, the year in which the new regulations will enter into force and the cars, the engines and the tires will be changed. Entering with a firm foot in the new era is key, for all teams, because recovering the land lost later can take years. Then, Alpine decided to scratch everything that can be in 2025, although they never imagined that they would have such a bad season. The French comfortably occupy the last place of builders, with just 20 points (all achieved by Pierre Gasly) and are 15 of the penultimate, Haas. Hardly the team that belongs to Renault leaves the final step of the tournament and that will have an impact on the money that enters its coffers at the end of the year when F1 makes the awards distribution.

The A525 is not very competitive. He suffers with an engine that loses between 15 and 25 HP with the rest of the suppliers, a gap that suffers since the drivers frozen in 2022. Given the impossibility of applying developments, the team was condemned to look for performance in the chassis, the engine was already a closed case. To the lack of competitiveness an even greater problem was added to Alpine: a little -ordered team was noticed and, sometimes, their cars arrived badly prepared to the grid. It happened in Canada, when they had to change the brake discs to the A525 of Colapint in full starting drawer. It happened in Silverstone, where a problem in the box left Franco without starting. He spent in Belgium, where Gasly ran out of Sprint for an Avga escape, when he had to chop from eighth. If something was missing, Alpine also failed in the stops in boxes: in Hungary, Colapinto was almost 19 seconds stopped while the mechanics struggled to change the tires.

The general context of the team complicates the work of any pilot. Now, Gasly, within that environment, squeez. Colapint, meanwhile, failed to make confidence in his car (something confessed by himself), especially at the entrance to the curves. He failed in Icola and Silverstone and had as best works Canada and Hungary. In the last race, in Hungaroring, he had a great rhythm, he beat Gasly in classification, but collided head -on with the weaknesses of the team. Little for what they expected from the Argentine, especially after their brilliant appearance of a year ago with Williams.

So far, the summary of Colapinto and Alpine until before the holiday break. And then? Franco’s accident in the 2026 tire test in Hungary does not add anything, of course, quite the opposite. From Alpine they gave signs that he is not in mind to change a pilot. The Argentine is in the plans of the team for the return of the holidays and expect him to take the necessary confidence and the rhythm that leads him to squeeze all the opportunities that arise. Colapinto would be granted all the opportunities to show, while Briratore evaluates the best options for the 2026 pilot duo, The year marked by Alpine. If Franco continues in the fight against his trust and does not achieve consistency, the rumor points out that his place could be occupied by Paul Aron, the reservation, on the final dates of 2025. Now, in F1 nothing is absolutely safe.

Behind is Briratore, who does not tremble his pulse if he has to make a sharp determination. “With Briatore, anything can happen, it is a time bomb that can explode at any time,” said Ricardo Patrese, Expiloto de F1 and who passed under the flavian wing in Benetton in 1993. The signs suggest that everything will depend on the same collapint, as it should be. Finding consistent rhythm, getting your distrust and taking advantage of situations that appear with the Alpine weak will be key to your future.
