MLB: Skenes and Skubal will open stars game

For the second year, Paul Skenes will be the opener of the National League and will face Tarik Skubal, a reigning winner of the American Cy Young


The right Paul Skenesof the Pittsburgh Pirates, will open by the National League by Second consecutive stars game, facing to the left Tarik Skubalof the Detroit Tigerswho will do it for the American LeagueTuesday in the Truist Park of the Atlanta Braves.

Skenes, the rookie of the old circuit year in 2024, and Skubal, the Cy Young of the American League last season, were announced by the managers of the mid -season classic, Dave Roberts, of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Aaron Boone, of the New York Yankees.

After setting a 11-3 mark of 1.96 and 170 strikeouts in 133.0 innings in 23 openings in its major league debut, Skenes leads the National League in Bwar (4.3), openings (20), effectiveness (2.01) and complete games (1), with 131 fan in 121.0 entries.

Last year, the 23 -year -old right launched a white entry into the star game at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, the House of the Texas Rangers. Skubal also appeared in that meeting, but as a reliever, and retired to the three batters he faced with 10 pitches.

Skubal arrives at the middle of the season with a 10-3 mark and effectiveness of 2.23 and as leader of the circuit in BWar (4.4), Ponches (153), tickets (121.0) and bleached (1) in 19 openings. He conquered the Cy Young, setting a 18-4 mark and effectiveness of 2.39 in 31 openings.

The 95th edition of the Star Game of the Major Leagues arrives in Atlanta for the third time (also in 1972 at the Fulton County Stadium and in 2000 at Turner Field), but for the first time the modern Truist Park, which was inaugurated in April 2017.

The American League won last year and 10 of the last 11 half-season classics to assume the leadership 47-44 (with 2 draws) in the series for life, of an event that was born in 1933.
