79-56: Spain sweeps Serbia and will fight for gold again

New corrective action for the Spanish women’s team in the U-18 Eurobasket in Stockholm. The team led by Isaac Fernández made sure to fight for the European gold medal this Saturday by clearly overwhelming Serbia in the semifinals (79-56).

The match started with better feelings for the Balkans, who left at the end of the first quarter leading the scoreboard (15-19). However, from the second act onwards they reacted and the rest of the match was a monologue from the Spanish team. At half-time, Spain already led by thirteen points (43-30).

In the second half there was no longer any story, as Isaac Fernández’s side, with Somto Okafor and Marta Llompart leading with 17 and 11 points respectively, managed to lead by a maximum advantage of 33 points over a Serbia that as the minutes passed could not keep up with the Spanish team.

With this comfortable victory in the semifinals, Spain reaches the final as a great dominator: winning its matches by an average of 45.2 points difference.

Isaac Fernández’s team will have the opportunity to repeat the title for the second consecutive time today against France (8:30 p.m.), who had no problems beating Finland in the other semifinal (82-62) and who, like the Spanish team, will reach the last match without knowing defeat.

If they take gold, the Spanish team would achieve its seventh first place in a European under-18 competition in its entire history (1998, 2006, 2009, 2015 and 2025).
