1-1: Gremio, to the final of the Brazilian Cup

Guild qualified for the final of the Brazil Cup after beating Atlético Mineiro with a global score of 3-1 in the semifinals, and awaits the best of the other series, which will be defined this Sunday by Vasco da Gama and Palmeiras. The Porto Alegre club drew 1-1 this Saturday at the Atlético Mineiro field under an intense storm, especially in the middle of the second half. In this way they made the advantage obtained in the first leg, which they won 2-0 in their stadium.

The first half was completely dominated by Atlético Mineiro. At 26 minutes, Renan Lodi opened the scoring for the locals and ignited the Galo’s enthusiasm. After that goal, the team led by Argentine Eduardo Domínguez had clear opportunities to extend the lead, but the Gremista defenders, together with the performance of goalkeeper Weverton, who became the great hero of the afternoon, quelled expectations.

Before going to half-time, it was a header from Carlos Vinicius that left everything in a draw and gave Renato Gaúcho’s eleven a break at the Arena MRV stadium.

At the restart, in addition to the intensity of the game, the weather took center stage. Midway through the second half, the strong storm caused the stadium lights to flicker, forcing the referee to stop the action for a few seconds, although it quickly returned to normal and the match continued without any major setbacks.

At the end of the match, Mineiro was left with one player less, after Vitão saw the red card for a dangerous tackle on Martin Braithwaite.

This Sunday Vasco da Gama and Palmeiras will define the second finalist starting at 5:00 p.m. (8:00 p.m. GMT) in Rio de Janeiro. The first leg was won by Palmeiras 1-0.
