Gators Advance In SEC Tourney; Roundup
The University of Florida men's basketball team might have punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament after beating Auburn 78-69 Thursday in the SEC Tournament in Nashville. Florida (21-11) will play Mississippi State tonight and Rock 104 will have live coverage starting at 6:55pm. Florida trailed in the opening minutes but after that point came out strong and dominated the game in the paint against a smaller Auburn team. The Gator big men repeatedly got easy looks or dunks inside as Florida built a 40-31 halftime lead.   more...

Lots Of Gator Activity This Weekend
There will be plenty of activity this weekend in Gator sports. Starting today, the Gator baseball team (9-2) will host the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (5-8) in a three game series. The games will be either on AM 850 or Rock 104; if Gator basketball is still playing in the SEC Tournament, baseball will be on AM 850 but if no hoops the games will be on Rock 104.   more...

Hall Of Famer Merlin Olsen Dies
Pro Football Hall of Fame member Merlin Olsen is dead at the age of 69, a victim of mesothelioma, a form of cancer. Olsen was a standout defensive lineman at Utah State and was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1962 where he joined fellow defensive linemen Deacon Jones, Rosey Grier and Lamar Lundy to form the "Fearsome Foursome" that went on to help the Rams defense set an NFL record for fewest yards allowed during the 1968 season.   more...
