Weather permitting the 41st annual Gatornationals will begin today at Gainesville Raceway with just about all of the top stars of NHRA competing.

Also competing is NASCAR veteran Kurt Busch, fresh off a NASCAR win in Atlanta last weekend; he's going to drive in the "Super Gas" competition after putting together a 1970 Dodge Challenger to run in the race.

The champions in the major classifications are back to defend their Gatornationals titles as well. Bob Tasca defeated Tony Pedregon in the Funny Car competition while Larry Dixon topped Brandon Bernstein in the Top Fuel category. In Pro Stock, Jason Line beat Allen Johnson in last year's final.

Today Sportsman qualifying will take place with the qualifying sessions for the major classifications taking place on Friday.
