With a possible NCAA Tournament bid on the line, the University of Florida men's basketball team opens play tonight in the SEC Tournament in Nashville with a game against Auburn. Rock 104 and AM 850 will have the game for you live at 6:55pm.
Florida is 20-11 on the year and finished 9-7 in the SEC but closed the season with three straight losses. Auburn may be playing to save the job of coach Jeff Lebo as the Tigers finished fifth in the SEC West with a 14-16 record and a 6-10 SEC mark.
Florida has dominated this series lately, winning over the Tigers earlier this year in Gainesville but the one time Auburn did win lately was in the SEC Tournament last year.
The Tigers can be a difficult matchup and Lebo's team will always shoot a lot of three balls and tonight should be no exception. 6'7" senior Tay Waller is the guy Florida must contain as he shoots over 40 percent from long distance and averages 15 a game. Senior DeWayne reed is a quick guard who leads the Tigers at 16 points a game.
In an amazing statistic, the top four teams in the SEC East were a combined 24-0 against the SEC West.
The SEC Tournament begins today with South Carolina taking on Alabama at 1pm followed by LSU facing Tennessee. After the Florida game tonight, Arkansas faces Georgia.
