Who Dat? Saints Get Super Bowl Title!

They ain't the Aint's anymore.

Wiping out years of frustration as a football franchise and rewarding its loyal fans for all the heartache Hurricane Katrina brought to their town only a few short years ago, the New Orleans Saints end an improbable season as Super Bowl champions after beating the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 Sunday in Miami.

The Saints win ignited a huge celebration on Bourbon Street and elsewhere in New Orleans only days before Mardi Gras and that celebration is to crank up.

The Saints fell behind early 10-0 but only trailed 10-6 at halftime after dominating the second quarter. The Colts were to get the ball though to start the second half when Saints coach Sean Payton gambled and called for an onside kick that was successful.

It turned the whole momentum of the game around. The Saints drove for a touchdown after the recovery of the onside kick to take the lead but the Colts marched right down the field and scored to lead 17-13. Garrett Hartley kicked the last of his three field goals to cut it to 17-16 and the Saints took the lead in the fourth quarter when quarterback Drew Brees, the Super Bowl MVP, hit tight end Jeremy Shockey with a touchdown pass and the Saints also made a two point conversion.

But quarterback Peyton Manning and the Colts would still get the ball back. But defensive back Tracy Porter stepped in front of a Manning pass and returned it 74 yards for the clinching touchdown and the Saints would have their championship.
