Senior point guard Lonnika Thompson scored all 11 of her points in overtime to spark the Florida women's basketball team to a thrilling 80-78 home win over Mississippi State on Sunday.
The win moves Florida to 6-4 in the SEC and to 13-10 overall with the win and the Bulldogs fall to 6-5 in the SEC, now having lost twice this season to Florida by a combined five points.
Florida trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half but came back to tie the game and force overtime. After a tie in the first overtime, guard Jordan Jones was fouled on a jumper with two seconds left with the score tied and she calmly sank both free throws to give Florida the win.
Jones scores 21 to lead Florida while seniors Steffi Sorensen and Sharielle Smith had double-doubles for the Gators as well. Florida will next play this Thursday night at home against LSU, a triple overtime loser at home Sunday against Ole Miss that dropped their SEC record to 4-6.
