Gator Men Hold On To Beat Bama; MSU Next

The University of Florida men's basketball team picks up a key road victory on Thursday night when it holds on to beat Alabama 66-65 in Tuscaloosa.

Forward Alex Tyus leads Florida (5-3 SEC, 16-6 overall) with 19 points but it was Erving Walker's floater with 11 seconds left that gives the Gators the win. He also added 16 points on the night for Florida.

The Gators led 64-60 but let that lead slip away. Alabama scored five straight points to take a 65-64 lead and that set up the heroics for Walker who hit his shot in a spread the floor situation set up by head coach Billy Donovan.

Alabama had one last chance to win but Dan Werner swatted an attempted lob pass to Alabama's JaMychal Green and time ran out. Former Gator assistant Anthony Grant sees his new Alabama team fall to 3-5 in the SEC and to 13-9 overall.

Florida now plays Mississippi State at home on Saturday and AM 850 and Rock 104 have all the coverage for you starting at 12:55pm.
