The Gator men's basketball team travels to face an old friend tonight when it takes on Alabama; AM 850 and Rock 104 have live coverage starting at 6:25pm.
Florida will face former long time assistant coach Anthony Grant for the first time since he became the coach at Alabama. The Crimson Tide are 3-4 in league play and come off a one point loss at Auburn in which the team committed 19 turnovers. Grant held a 6:30am practice the next day.
There is some talent in Tuscaloosa; 6'5" senior Mikhail Torrence leads the team at 15 points a game and sophomore 6'9" forward JaMychal Green averages 14.6 points a game and over seven rebounds a contest.
Alabama's strength is its defense right now; it is second in the SEC giving up just 62 points a game. The Crimson Tide is not a great rebounding team and is near the bottom of the SEC in three point shots made per game as they average about five made treys a night. Charves Davis is who you have to watch out for here, as he is shooting 37 percent from long distance.
Florida comes off a tough one point loss at Tennessee this past Sunday. The Gator guard play, a strength all year, was not good offensively in Knoxville and Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker will look to have bounce back games in Tuscaloosa. The Gators are 4-3 in SEC play.
