Florida Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan is the National League Rookie of the Year for 2009.
Coghlan edges Philadelphia Phillies pitcher J.A. Happ to win the award. As Florida's leadoff hitter, Coghlan hit .321 with 84 runs scored and 47 rbi. Happ ended a nice first year with a 12-4 record and a 2.93 ERA for National League champion Philadelphia.
The American League Rookie of the Year is Oakland closer Andrew Bailey. He had 26 saves and a sparkling 1.84 ERA and a 6-3 for the A's this season. He beat out Texas infielder Elvis Andrus and Detroit pitcher Rick Porcello.
Bailey is the eighth Oakland player to win the Rookie of the Year award, tying the New York Yankees for the most in the AL.
