Keys To A Gator Victory

Each week AM 850 sports gives you our Keys To Victory for the Florida football team; this week, the Gators take on the Vanderbilt Commodores and we'll have live coverage starting at 4:15pm on AM 850 and Rock 104...

** Stay The Course. It looked like the Gators were a much more focused and perhaps relaxed team in playing Georgia last week. The Gators played with a sense of purpose and seemed to enjoy just playing the game without the pressures of being number one and all of that. Keep that focus this week.

** Play Through Distractions. First it was the Brandon Spikes half a game suspension; then it was the Brandon Spikes full game suspension; then it was whether or not Urban Meyer would be reprimanded by the SEC for saying officials missed a call in the Georgia game last week. Florida had a lot of distractions this week; the team must refocus and play well against an SEC foe.

** Keep Up The Offensive Diversity. Had to like what offensive coordinator Steve Addazio did with the offense in the first half last week; the ball was spread around to different receivers and runners, the balance of run to pass was excellent and the Gators opened the game crisply on offense. Hopefully, more of the same this week.

** Take Advantage Of Vandy Injuries. It has been a tough season for Bobby Johnson and his Commodores as his team has been really hurt by injuries. He's been forced to play a lot of younger players and maybe some players that weren't really quite ready to play but the Gators can't feel sorry and they've got to go out and take care of business and build momentum for the end of the season.

** Contain Warren Norman. The Commodore freshman has three kickoff returns for touchdowns this season so once again the Florida coverage team must do a good job as it did last week in neutralizing Georgia's nice returner Brandon Boykin.

Enjoy the game everyone!
