Big Stars File For Free Agency

Big name players like outfielder Matt Holliday, pitcher John Lackey and first baseman Carlos Delgado have officially filed for free agency in Major League Baseball.

Almost 80 players filed on the first day they could and up to approximately 100 more could be filing depending on new contracts or deals.

Boston took steps to shore up their outfield if they lose Jason Bay to free agency when they acquired outfielder Jeremy Hermida from Florida for two pitchers.

Outfielder Bobby Abreu signed a two year deal to stay with the LA Angels and outfielder Mark Kotsay stays with the Chicago White Sox. Colorado will keep pitcher Matt Belisle with a new one year deal.

The deadline to file for free agency is November 19th.
