Adrian Gonzalez went six for six as the San Diego Padres wallop Milwaukee 13-6 on Tuesday. The six hits is a season high for Gonzalez and he also drove in three runs in the game.
In other National League games, Atlanta's Tommy Hanson continues to impress as the righthander pitches into the seventh inning to help the Braves beat Washington 8-1, snapping Washington's eight game winning streak.
Florida won its fifth straight by beating Houston 9-8 and Philadelphia stays three and a half games up on the Marlins in the NL East with a 4-3 win over Chicago. Cincinnati cools off St.Louis 5-4; Los Angeles hammers San Francisco +9-1; Pittsburgh cools off Colorado 7-3 and Arizona tops hapless New York 6-2.
In the American League, New York beats Toronto 7-5 for their eighth win in their last nine games. The Yanks stay five and a half games ahead of Boston in the AL East as Boston beats Detroit 7-5 in a game marked by ejections on both sides. The Red Sox also lead the AL wild card race.
In other action, Cleveland blanks Texas 5-0; Kansas City hammers slumping Minnesota 14-6; Baltimore nips Oakland 3-2; Los Angeles blanks Tampa Bay 7-0; and Chicago moves to within two games of division leader Detroit with a 3-1 win over Seattle.
