Tebow Named SEC's Top Male Athlete

The Southeastern Conference has announced that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has been named the SEC Male Athlete of the Year for the second straight year.

Tebow is only the third Gator to receive this honor, joining quarterback Danny Wuerffel and swimmer Ryan Lochte. And, Tebow is only the fourth male athlete to win the award in back to back seasons. The Gator senior has won a Heisman Trophy and two national titles in his time at Florida and his team will be preseason ranked number one by just about everyone to start the 2009 campaign.

The SEC Female Athlete of the Year is Georgia gymnast Courtney Kupets, who helped her team to another national title in gymnastics this past season. She is the only gymnast to win NCAA titles in each event and is a three time NCAA All Around champion. She missed the 2008 season because of injury but came back strong this past year and was named National Gymnast of the Year.
