The University of Florida football team is playing for a national championship later this week and that could be one reason that the Gators received three more verbal commitments over the weekend.
The latest came Sunday night at the Under Armour All American game in Orlando when athlete Andre Debose of Seminole High School chose the Gators. Debose has been compared to current Gator Percy Harvin because of his speed and athletic ability at the wide receiver position.
Also playing in that game was safety Greg Reid, who originally orally committed to Florida but backed out of it to rethink things. However, Reid has not ruled out signing with the Gators.
On Saturday, the U.S.Army All American Bowl game was played and Florida received two verbal commitments in that game. Palm Beach Central linebacker Jon Bostic and Fayetteville, North Carolina offensive lineman Xavier Nixon were the two players who gave their verbal pledges to the Gators.
Bostic is 6'2" and 225 pounds and plans to enroll early at Florida. Nixon is a 6'6" 270 pound prospect.
Also playing in the U.S. Army game were Gator verbal commitments Nick Alajajian, an offensive lineman, and defensive lineman Nick Kasa
Florida now has 17 verbal commitments in the 2009 class.
