NFL: Not A Good Start For Florida Teams

All three Florida NFL teams started their seasons with losses after action on Sunday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost at Tennessee 17-10 as both offenses struggled. Titans quarterback Vince Young left the game with a knee injury that could sideline him for a month. For Jags quarterback David Garrard, the problem was the Titans defense that sacked him seven times in the game.

Brett Favre threw two touchdown passes to lead the New York Jets to a 20-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in Miami in the first game for new Fins coach Tony Sparano.

And Drew Brees throws for 343 yards and three touchdowns to help the homestanding New Orleans Saints beat the Tampa Bay Bucs 24-20.

In other games, Tom Brady hurt his knee and could be lost for the season for the New England Patriots, who hung on to beat Kansas City 17-10. An MRI is scheduled for today to check out the Brady knee injury.

Willie Parker ran for three scores and 138 yards as Pittsburgh beat Houston 38-17; Atlanta rookie quarterback Matt Ryan threw a touchdown pass with his first ever NFL throw and Michael Turner set a franchise record with 220 yards rushing as the Falcons beat Detroit 34-21.

Fellow rookie quarterback Joe Flacco ran for a score as Baltimore beat Cincinnati 17-10; Buffalo mauled Seattle 34-10; Arizona beat San Francisco 23-13; Philadelphia routs St.Louis 38-3; Dallas topped Cleveland 28-10; Carolina threw a touchdown pass on the final play of the game to beat San Diego 26-24 and Chicago surprised Indianapolis 29-13 on the road in Indy.
