The Toronto Blue Jays managed to capture one game of their series with the Tampa Bay Rays after winning 9-4 on Sunday in Tampa.
The Rays still lead he American League East by a game and a half over Boston; the Red Sox were swept by Los Angeles in LA after losing 5-3 as Francisco Rodriguez becomes the earliest to ever hit 40 saves in a season in the game.
In other AL action, Chicago loses to Kansas City 8-7 but the White Sox keep a half game lead over Minnesota in the AL Central after Texas beat the Twins 1-0. New York moves to within four and a half games of Tampa Bay with a 2-1 over Oakland while Cleveland beats Seattle 6-2 and Detroit downs Baltimore 5-1.
In the National League, Florida got a walkoff single from Jorge Cantu to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 on Sunday. The win moves the Marlins just a half game behind Philly and the New York Mets for first place in the NL East; New York got there after beating Cincinnati 7-5.
Washington blasts Atlanta 15-6 as former Brave Willie Harris drives in five runs. In the NL Central, Chicago keeps a two game lead over Milwaukee after beating Houston 9-0 as Ryan Dempster improves to 11-4 on the year. Milwaukee keeps pace by beating San Francisco 7-4 as Manny Parra goes to 9-2 on the year.
Arizona and Los Angeles are tied for first in the NL West; LA tops Arizona 6-5 to get the first place tie. In other games, Colorado downs Pittsburgh 11-3 and St.Louis beats San Diego 9-5 to complete a four game sweep of the Padres.
