Knicks Release Former Gator Green

Just a day after acquiring former Gator guard Taurean Green from the Denver Nuggets in a trade, the New York Knicks have released him.

Green was let go along with forward Bobby Jones who was also acquired in the trade. The Knicks have a glut of point guards on their roster, making Green expendable. New York is expected to continue to overhaul its roster to rid the team of as many bad contracts as possible.

In other news, several media reports say the Houston Rockets are expected to acquire Ron Artest from the Sacramento Kings. The reports say the Rockets will give up guard Bobby Jackson, who played for the Kings earlier in his career, and another player to be named.

Charlotte also inks free agent forward Emeka Okafor to a new six year deal, keeping him with the team.
