Despite a presentation from SEC Commissioner Mike Slive, the members that make up the Bowl Championship Series have rejected a "plus one" proposal that would have set up a mini playoff for college football.
In making the decision, BCS officials will keep the format for the BCS the same as it has been at least until after the 2014 season.
When all the discussion was over, only the SEC and the ACC were willing to even continue the discussion of a plus one format and that discussion soon died.
Any change to the BCS system would have needed approval by university presidents, the key figures in making any change in the system happen. The BCS has two years left on its current contract with Fox and there are reports that the BCS will begin negotiating a new TV deal in the near future, perhaps with Fox again.
BCS officials have been conducting meetings near Hollywood, Florida since the beginning of the week.
