Marlins Deny Maddux Win 350

The quest for win number 350 for Greg Maddux will continue for at least a few more days after the Florida Marlins denied him that win after beating San Diego 10-3 on Sunday.

Maddux gave up four earned runs as he pitched into the sixth inning; he was beaten by Gainesville's Andrew Miller who squared his record at 2-2 by giving up two runs and four hits in six innings of work.

In other National League action, St.Louis beats Chicago 5-3 to claim first place in the NL Central. New York beat Arizona 5-2 and Colorado stopped the LA Dodger win streak at eight with a 7-2 win. The other NL winners are Washington, Atlanta, Houston, and Philadelphia.

In the American League, Detroit blows a 6-0 first inning lead and loses to Minnesota 7-6, getting swept in the process; this came after the Tigers had swept New York in Yankee Stadium. Speaking of the Yankees, they down Seattle 8-2 as Melky Cabrera and Robinson Cano go deep.

Boston wins too, beating Tampa 7-3 as Jon Lester improves to 2-2 on the year. Joe Saunders is 6-0 for the Angels as LA beats Baltimore 6-5. The other AL winners are Oakland, Toronto and Kansas City.
