Gator Teams (Baseball, Women's Tennis) Get Wins

The University of Florida baseball team comes from behind Thursday to defeat the Vanderbilt Commodores 8-6 thanks to a four run eighth inning. Seniors Bryson Barber and Brandon McArthur hit two run homers in the inning to give Florida (32-20, 15-13 SEC) the win.

The victory now means the Gators are in fifth place overall in the SEC as they try to qualify for the SEC Tournament that starts next week. Vanderbilt clinched a spot in the tournament despite its loss on Thursday. The other SEC winners were LSU, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

Florida and Vanderbilt will play again tonight and Rock 104 will have live coverage starting at 6:30pm.

In other Gator news, the Florida women's tennis team advances to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships with a 4-1 over Vanderbilt on Thursday. Florida will next play defending NCAA champion Georgia Tech on Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Gator men's team plays in the round of 16 at the NCAA's and takes on seventh ranked Texas today, also in Tulsa.

And the Florida men's golf team is in fourth place after the first round of the NCAA Central Regiona being played at Ohio State. Tyson Alexander's even par 71 leads Florida as the Gators are just four shots off the lead; the top eight teams will advance to the NCAA Championship.
