Gator Softball Wins SEC Title; Tournament Next

The second ranked University of Florida softball team has won the SEC regular season championship after sweeping Tennessee over the weekend, including Sunday's 5-3 win in Knoxville.

Florida finishes the regular season with an incredible 59-2 record that includes a 27-1 mark in SEC play. That 27-1 mark is the best record ever in SEC play and it gives the Gators their second SEC title in school history and its first in a decade.

In Sunday's game, Florida erased an early 2-0 deficit in the third inning as Aja Paculba doubled home Kim Walezonia. Ali Gardiner doubled home Paculba and senior Mary Ratliff doubled home Gardiner.

After Tennessee tied the game at 3-3, the Gators scored the eventual winning run in the fifth on another Gardiner double. Florida scored an insurance run in the seventh when Walezonia scored on a wild pitch.

The Gators, now winners of an incredible 32 games in a row, will now get ready for the SEC Tournament to be held starting Thursday at LSU; Florida is the top seed and will play eight seed Ole Miss at 2:20pm on Thursday.
