The University of Florida baseball team has completed its regular season and it will now participate in the SEC Tournament starting Wednesday in Hoover, Alabama.
Florida ended its regular season with a home sweep of Vanderbilt and has earned a number three seed in the SEC Tournament. Ironically, Florida's first game will be against Vanderbilt, the sixth seed.
Georgia is the top seed for the tournament and LSU is the two seed because it won the SEC West. Kentucky is the four seed and Alabama is the five seed and those teams will play each other in the opening game for both teams. LSU will face seven seed South Carolina which got into the tournament after winning on Saturday via a walkoff home run in the bottom of the ninth. Georgia will play eight seed Ole Miss.
If the Gators do well in the SEC Tournament, there is a good chance they could host an NCAA Regional. Florida's RPI is around 15 and it looks like only two teams (Georgia and LSU) are locks from the SEC to host and a good SEC Tournament showing could move Florida into a host regional position.
The Gators ended 17-13 in the SEC and 34-20 overall.
