Former Gators Make Professional News

A number of former University of Florida players are making news in the professional ranks.

Former Gator basketball player Al Horford will apparently finish second in the voting for the NBA Rookie of the Year; the award will be formally announced Thursday and according to the Associated Press, Seattle's Kevin Durant will win the award after averaging over 20 points a game in his rookie season.

Former Gator football player Ian Scott has signed a free agent contract with the Carolina Panthers. Scott has battled injuries the past couple of seasons and spent part of last season with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is said to be healthy and ready to play.

And former Gator baseball player Brad Wilkerson has been released by the Seattle Mariners after getting off to a slow start this season. He was hitting just .232 and had been battling a hamstring injury as well.
