Several internet sites are reporting today that the University of Florida has released safety/linebacker Jerimy Finch from his scholarship.

Finch, a true freshman last year, saw some playing time early but then suffered a season ending knee injury in the Tennessee game.

After recovering from the injury, the coaching staff moved him to outside linebacker where he was expected to compete for playing time. There were also some reports that he wanted to get another shot at playing safety, the position he played in high school and in his freshman season at Florida.

Finch did miss some time during spring practice this year for various reasons but all indications were that his injury was healed and he was ready to go.
