Gators Host Kentucky With College Game Day Here

The Florida men's basketball team will host the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday night in a nationally televised game on ESPN.

AM 850 will also provide live exclusive coverage of the game starting at 8:25pm.

ESPN College Game Day will also be in Gainesville for the game, making its first stop of the college basketball season.

Florida comes off an 89-87 loss at Ole Miss on Wednesday night while the Wildcats are also coming off a road loss at Mississippi State. Kentucky is just 7-8 on the year but is 1-1 in SEC play.

For the Wildcats, three players basically do all their scoring; guard Ramel Bradley has scored 20 or more points in five straight games and is now averaging 15.7 points a game. Senior Joe Crawford averages 16.4 points a game while freshman post player Patrick Patterson averages 16.8 points and a team high eight rebounds a game.

Once again this year, Kentucky is a streaky shooting team but also a group that will get after it defensively. The Wildcats would probably prefer a lower scoring game in trying to break a six game losing streak to Florida.

Florida certainly scored enough points to beat Ole Miss last Wednesday but the Gators did not play well defensively, especially in the first half when the Rebels shot 60 percent from the field. Offensively, Florida also missed nine free throws and made just 9 of 32 shots from beyond the arc.
