New Number One In BCS Poll

There is a new number one team in the BCS college football poll; welcome to the top spot Missouri!

The Missouri Tigers, not even ranked in the preseason polls, now sit atop the BCS poll this week after beating previously undefeated Kansas last Saturday. The Tigers have one game left, the Big 12 Championship Game against Oklahoma; the Sooners are number nine in the poll.

Sitting at number two is West Virginia after the Mountaineers crushed Connecticut last Saturday. West Virginia also has one game left on its schedule, the "back yard brawl" against Pittsburgh.

Sitting third is Ohio State; the Buckeyes do not have any more games remaining and must now hope that either Missouri or West Virginia loses to give them a shot at playing for the national title.

Georgia is fourth after beating arch rival Georgia Tech and Kansas drops to fifth. Virginia Tech is sixth after beating Virginia.

LSU, last week's number team in the BCS poll, drops all the way to seventh after losing in a couple of overtimes to Arkansas. USC moves up to eighth after beating Arizona State and still having to play UCLA; rounding out the top ten is Florida, moving up after smashing Florida State.

The BCS bowl selection show will air next Sunday and the pairings will be announced for the major bowl matchups of the year.
