Gainesville Regional Airport Increasing Security

In an effort to further investigate the al-Qaeda- backed attempt to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight Christmas Day, President Barack Obama is scheduled to meet with advisors this afternoon to discuss ongoing reviews of airport security. And here at the Gainesville Regional Airport security measures are in place to make sure you are safe both at the gates and in the air. Gainesville Regional Airport spokesperson Michelle Danisovsky says the airport is doing its part to make sure passengers feel safe.
Deputy Security Director Frank Stagl at Gainesville Regional says additional precautions are being taken. The airport currently does not have full body imagers that scan passengers at the terminal but Stagl says they may acquire the new technology in the future.
Danisovsky says even with an increase in security measures since the attempted bombing nearly two weeks ago, passenger behavior remains the same.
Stricter security measures at airports may irk some travelers, but Stagl says passengers should try to be understanding.
