Florida law enforcement agencies are launching a new campaign aimed at reducing domestic violence in the homnes of police officers and sheriff's deputies. There is typically more domestic violence in the homes of law enforcement officers, with stress. Karen Oehme with the FSU Institutes for Violence Studies says the first thing they have to do is convince officers to leave the street mentaility out on the street. She says the job skills that officers need outside can be abusive and inappropriate if brought home. One method of help is having the officers pledge against non-violence. Oehme also has the officers carry cards to read time to time, to remind them of the hazards of domestic abuse.
