China's Economy Growing

The opening ceremony for the 2008 Olympics is tomorrow in Beijing, China. The Olympics has brought a lot of attention to the country, both positive and negative. Critics have tackled many issues, from China's Human rights policies to the ongoing pollution problem. One thing many can agree on, however, is that China's economy seems to be growing everyday. University of Florida economist David Denslow says the transformation China is going through started many decades ago. Denslow says the country's rapid growth has affected commodities used by the rest of the world. Many companies in the United States have turned to China to manufacture their goods because of cheaper labor. Denslow says changes in wages have caused China to change their manufacturing habits. He says all of the attention focused on China has had a positive effect on the country's economy. The 2008 Olympics start tomorrow and runs until the 24th of August. In the next two weeks China will see many economic opportunities.
