A phishing scam involving SunState Federal Credit Union has the Alachua County Sheriff's Office reminding residents to beware. A-S-O Spokesperson, Art Forgey was one of those who received a fraudulent e-mail claiming to be from the credit union.
Phishing is a term used to describe the situation that occurs when internet users send spam e-mails or pop-up messages to lure personal information from the unsuspecting victims.
If you think this is an isolated incident, think again. Forgey says with the advent of the internet, situations like this are growing in numbers.
