UF Concert Choir Performs This Weekend

Gainesville was alive with the sound of music today as University of Florida's Concert Choir rehearsed for the Verdi's Requiem concert taking place this Saturday at the Phillips Center. The fact they have only had 3 weeks of rehearsal hasn't stopped them from working hard to give justice to this classic peice.

Director of the concert Dr.Kesling, who's fondly refered to by his students as Kenny G, will also be directing the Gainesville Civic Chorus, a professional orchestra with members from around the state and a quartet of professional opera soloists. The 140 voice choir is sure to fill the theater with the sounds of their voices and a sizeable crowd. Kesling says he's proud to have brought such a reknowned concert to town for the Gainesville community to experience.

The concert starts at 7:30pm on Saturday night at the Curtis M. Phillips Center and tickets to the public cost $28. Don't be surprised if you find trumpets scattered throughout the balconies. Dr. Kesling wants everyone to feel the beauty of the music.
